The Icy Shot

I think I just found the 1st gift I want to add to my xmas/bday list. The Icy Shot is a wonder of a machine for those of us that like a nice chilled shot. Icy Shot cools liquors at 8 to -5 degrees and a simple tap system for less mess along with LED illumination to add some sexy to your bar. Unlike other liquor chillers Icy Shot works without reservoir, so what you drink is pure liquor coming out and instantly chilled from the bottle. Oh Happy Day!

I had the pleasure of attending a tasting for the Piece of Cake Liqueur brand and walked away highly pleased. Again I’m not a fan of flavored liquor (outside of coconut ciroc) but Piece of Cake is on to something with their innovative creation. The Chocolate Cake Liqueur is really like drinking a piece of cake, the hazelnut and cocoa notes blend well. It’s no wonder they won the highly coveted Silver Award in the tasting competition at the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America’s 67th annual Convention and Exposition.

Now I’ve made my own Chocolate Cake drink in the past with a mix of Vanilla Vodka and Frangelico, but this one bottle cuts out the need of excess. A rollout of other dessert-inspired flavors like strawberry shortcake and pineapple upside down cake is planned. If you know me, you know Pop Art is my love and Andy Warhol is one of my fav artists ever to breathe it. So my liquid lovin brain was all to happy to see a tribute from Don Pérignon for Mr. Warhol. It’s the first time one of the worlds finest champagnes has reinterpreted it’s label. Taking cue from the colors from works of Andy Warhol, the labels come in six different Pop Art colors, which include blue, red, lilac, violet, emerald green and yellow.

I don’t know if it’s the Ben Stiller look alike or the fact it says Newark Pricing that is killing me here. Either way, we won’t be adding Wodka Vodka to my saucy moments playlist anytime soon. For those that care the vodka is rye-based, triple-filtered and Polish in origin. A bottle will run you about $15 bucks.

4th Of July

This 4th of July weekend was hands down the best I’ve had my entire life for many reasons. It was a nice lowkey, chill weekend mixed with great food, awesome drinks, and amazing company. Ya boy I.AM.CJay got in the kitchen at one point during the weekend and threw down.

Wasabi crusted salmon, lobster pasta, mixed vegetables, sangria and wine made for a perfect July 3rd evening.

Yeah that’s me in the midst of cooking with the fly new R+ tank top on. It’s always a fash-ON moment somewhere.

You already know anytime food and drink is the proposed guest of the night I’m there. Malo has always been one of my favorite places in Silverlake to venture, in fact I had my b’day dinner there a few years ago. On June 30th @ 8p.m. is Tequila Appreciation Night and it’s already shaping up to be the must attend event. The event will be a sit down 3-course meal that offers a specific Herradura Antiquo Tequila cocktail with each meal.

Those that know me, know I hate a flavored vodka. Hands down this Coconut Ciroc has made me open my mind and liquid taste buds. I first went to tasting in NYC and knew it would be a Summer cocktail for me. I was given a bottle as a gift from someone 🙂 and oh they knew it would give me life. All you need is a lil pineapple juice and you’ll be good to go. I do have to mention we had to get ghetto for a minute this weekend at a house party and mix it with Tampico, don’t judge…it was kinda bomb.

Now this would make any novice wine connoisseur a happy person. This new Skybar One Wine System is a must for anyone that has a genuine love for wine, but can do without all the fuss to enjoy it. The high-tech system is designed to do four things, all at the press of a button: chill the wine to the optimal temperature (there are pre-programmed settings for 15 different varietals), dispense the wine (no need to remove the bottle or mess with recorking), preserve the wine for up to 10 days via vacuum technology, and display the wine attractively in the sleekly designed case that features LED lighting for ambiance. The system will run you about 4 bills, but it’s oh so worth it.

Oh So Wrong, Yet Oh So Right

Yeah that Red Velvet Cheesecake from The Abbey got demolished, it was 4 minutes short of us about to chew the damn plate.

Ok, these tasty little treats were from my time spent @ Wow Wednesdays in The Trader Vics Lounge at the Beverly Hilton this week. Yeah when I’m somewhere 2 weeks in a row, you know it’s a must.

This Suffering Bastard is a cocktail that will put some hair on ya chest, as the elders would say. My favorite drink @ The Beverly Hilton.

Maybe I should turn this to a food and beverage blog, damn fat ass! LOL, but you know I love a good meal and a great drink. So does my girl Chiara for that matter.

Once you get past the fact it’s Ed Hardy and leave all the jaded notions of the brand at the door, you just might be surprised at the extremely smooth taste of the Ed Hardy Vodka. A premium wheat blended vodka distilled and filtered five times bottled and imported from the Cognac region of France. I had the pleasure of having them sponsor my Christmas party last year and all the guests were highly pleased.

Design wise the bottle is actually hot as well. Any vodka that I can throw back like a glass of water is a winner with me.
