You know it’s got to be something pretty serious to get me excited about L.A. Fashion Week, better yet to even attend a show. Yes it’s the jaded New Yorker in me speaking, but the Exchange LA was the place to be. When Anthony Franco presents a runway collection it’s a stand up occasion for those with any fashion sense in L.A. to attend. You’d be hard pressed to mention fashion in L.A. and not mention the name Anthony Franco.

Had a amazing Memorial Day BBQ at the Holgate compound on Monday. Good times and great friends always equal a fantastic time.

The day after the BBQ got to see my best homie Joe Avalos graduate from his Crisis Response class and be presented with a certificate from the Mayor.

Urth Cafe Downtown

In one of those “I never knew it was here” moments, I had the pleasure of checking out the newest Urth Cafe Downtown L.A. with the homie Beto. I’ve been to the one on Melrose plenty of times, but to see this little hidden treasure was a welcomed surprise. The vibe here is more laid back than the Hollywood type flow of the Melrose location.

The food is always tops at Urth Cafe, but I highly suggest you have a latte if for nothing else just to see the foam designs in each cup.

Downtown is truly becoming it’s own little metropolitan area and Urth just made me love it even more. Make sure you check them out and tell them I.AM.CJay sent you. 🙂

A night out in downtown L.A. had me at the new Ritz Carlton which I’ve  featured here last month. Made a pit stop to the watering hole The Mixing Room which lives in the JW Marriott portion of the Ritz and tried a tasty concoction by the name of 5 Spice Margarita. A drink consisting of Patron Silver, Tequila, and Five Spice gave me just the subtle amount of kick mid-week.

Great ambiance, delicious finger foods, and fantastic drinks make for a great night now. Take my word for it.

Excuse the blackberry pic, I’m in love with the busy array of downtown behind me.

Okay by no means am I a Rum drinker or a cigar smoker, but after visiting the Cana Rum Bar in Downtown, Los Angeles last night I just may convert. Seems you need a membership to even enter the sexy bar located behind the Doheny. Upon entering you feel as if you stumbled on a secret society bar in the streets of Cuba.

I have to give props to castmate and Hollywood honcho Jared Kurt for putting me on to Cana. We went to toast a huge show coming to T.V. he will be working on. I’ll give deets on that when I’m allowed. So for toasting festivities he had the Mai Tai and I had the Port Au Prince.

When I was last in L.A. for the Lady Gaga show at The Nokia Theater I got the chance to see what was slowly becoming the new Ritz Carlton Los Angeles at the L.A. Live complex. This 54-story tower is a beauty with 123 guestrooms and home to downtown LA’s only full-service hotel spa. You can trust and believe I’ll be hosting my next birthday party at this luxury hotel.
